Running smooth…

The gender gap referenced in the article has existed in America for years. Women have always been victims to unfair wages in the work place. I’ve never understood why a female will make less than a man for doing the exact same job. Whenever you think about IT jobs women are always the smallest percentages especially when you look at managers and engineers. The whole market is designed to push females away from those positions. What a sought after female you would be if you had high level experience in IT. The school systems are slightly to blame for not exposing females to every career imaginable. I really thought our society was past these gender base issues in the work place. Computer classes should be mandatory in our school systems to help reduce the digital divide.

Technology adoption has increased significantly each year for several years. Since the internet became main stream nearly every home in America has a computer with internet access. Businesses no longer use a paper system to manage clients everything is paperless now. Years ago people would worry their information would be online, well it is! Home telephones are even a thing of the past since cell phones are more affordable and provide no extra cost for long distance calls. Nobody really has dialup anymore most people in this area has a cable modem for the speed and price you can’t beat it.  You can’t even go to a prospective employer and fill out a job application because everything is online!

The Mob

A group of students can be just like the mob because they will do whatever they want.  What works for your current class may not work in the next year. Just like the mob we’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done and we’ll always be one step ahead of the rest. A mob is nothing more than a group of people that communicate.   If we find something that works successfully we defiantly want to share it. The mob is everywhere and everyone is pulled into the mob. The mob has access (telephone, chat, email) everywhere and constantly changes. They can’t be controlled by the government because it has gone too far. We no longer understand what restrictions should be.

I can remember in my younger days how much I would search for old songs and want access to certain media ASAP now because of YouTube my dreams are finally coming true. I rarely buy media because I have no need for it I can just stream unlimited amounts for free. Learners will always be ready to learn and be willing to learn new technologies. I remember using Napster downloading tons of music and hearing all of record companies pressing charges against people but I didn’t care. Napster started the idea of file-sharing copyrighted material and people can’t get enough of it. We want access to media 24/7 and believe it should be free.  

Nobody can clearly say what constitutes literacy because we all have different viewpoints. I’ve always thought a person was literate being able to read and write but it can be so much more than that. Just because a person has trouble writing doesn’t mean they have problems comprehending information. I’m sure people disagree on determining what reading level is considered literate too.  We can’t say what constitutes literacy because we don’t have a clear cut answer.

I decided to stay with the theme of “snow day” and transform one of my favorite pictures from color to black and white.  I contemplated leaving the jeep the original color, but I quickly changed my mind while playing around and trying my options. I think the street sign looks great. I’m really happy with the picture and this assignment didn’t frustrate me.

Cluetrain Manifesto discusses the significant change in business communication primarily because of the internet and it creates a new way of communication from producer to consumer. The internet is amazing because it allows real time conversations and responses to clients or students. The internet creates interaction between teachers and students no matter the distance. Between email and texting I believe voice conversations will take if not already a backseat. The internet allows a direct connection from instructor to student. Our education system needs to accept our society is changing to online communication. The best way to get our students prepared for the workforce is by exposing them to communication methods they will be using. Having the internet you never have to wait because all of the information you need is at your finger tips.

I would not recommend GIMP to anyone! I’ve been working for 2 days on the assignment and I’m extremely frustrated. GIMP wasn’t user-friendly and I would not recommend it to a novice graphic designer.

This would be great for elementary students who are learning words and teaching association. I selected the word snow because that’s all I’ve seen for weeks.
